Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino acid GHRH analog that activates GHRH receptors in the pituitary, stimulating endogenous growth hormone synthesis and release. This increases IGF-1 production, promotes lipolysis (especially visceral fat), improves insulin sensitivity, and provides a more physiological GH stimulation compared to direct GH administration.
