N-Acetyl Semax Amidate is an enhanced derivative of Semax with improved bioavailability and blood-brain barrier penetration. The N-acetyl group and C-terminal amidation increase resistance to enzymatic degradation. It modulates BDNF and NGF expression, enhances dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, upregulates TrkB receptor signaling, and provides neuroprotective effects through anti-oxidant mechanisms and inhibition of nitric oxide synthase.
