Liraglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics natural GLP-1 hormone. It increases glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, delays gastric emptying to prolong satiety, and activates brain receptors to reduce appetite and food intake. Structural modifications provide resistance to DPP-4 degradation.
